BDO Champ Mark Webster to Receive Civic Reception in Denbigh

Denbighshire Free Press by Shaun Davies:

Following his World Championship victory, the Denbigh resident will receive a reception from the town.

From the article:

At its meeting on Monday night, Denbigh Town Council members discussed the best way to mark Mark’s success in winning the 2008 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships.

Denbigh Mayor Cllr Colin Hughes said: “Quite a few of you will have had people running up to you asking what the council is going to do for Mark Webster!

“My idea is we’re not taking the whole town on a good session around all the pubs!”

Instead, Cllr Hughes suggested a civic reception for Mark and his family in the council chamber, with the presentation of a small gift.

“If it’s in the chamber here… we could let the people of Denbigh know he would be here,” added the mayor.

Cllr Hughes said that Mark could go on the balcony at the town hall to display the world championship trophy.

Cllr Raymond Bartley said: “I would support the mayor and for the town clerk to make the necessary arrangements and the town council foots the bill for a civic reception.”
