The Wizard once again showed he is a force to be reckoned with in world darts with a powerhouse display of darts to take out the Russell Stewart Classic in Wollongong on Sunday.
Simon was too good for Broken Hills ” The General Steve Macarthur” defeating him 6-1 in the final in a clinical display of darts.
Whitlocks average in the final was 102.50 over 6 legs which included 3 x 13 darts legs all of which he opened with consecutive 180s
Although the General played well all day to reach the final he was unable to keep up with the wizard and he easily picked up the maximum 10 Grand Prix Points
Macarthur picked up 8 Points which will be enough to secure him a place in the Australian Team that will take on the Parktrent Internationals of Wayne Mardle, John Part, Andy Jenkins and Richie Burnett in Dapto on the 10th of August.
Simon overcame fellow QLDer Glen Power in his semi after defeating Russell Stewart in a hard fought Quarter Final which could have easily gone Rustys way after he had shots to go 3-0 up. He also Defeated William Cross Pro Am Quarter Finalist Peter Corcoran in the round of 16.
Macarthur overcame Local Boy John Hector in the round of 16 and on his way to the final also defeated Goulburns Rod Crawford and 2005 AGP Winner Brian Roach in the semis
In Saturdays Event Simon also overcame a spirited performance from Russell Stewart to take the Event and another 10 Grand Prix Ranking Points.
