Dart Master’s hopes ended at Masters of Darts competition

DESPITE a win over Jelle Klaasen in the Keukenconcurrent Masters of Darts on Tuesday, Phil Taylor cannot make the tournament’s semi-finals.

Taylor picked up his second victory in the event when he won 3-1 against the 2005 BDO Champion, keeping alive his slim hopes of finishing in England’s top two.

However, Peter Manley’s later win over Roland Scholten – when he came from a set down to win 3-1 – ended any chance of Taylor repeating his 2005 Masters of Darts triumph.

Unbeaten Manley moved to the top of the English table after his win and an earlier defeat for Mervyn King, who hit eight maximums and a 170 finish in a 3-2 loss to Michael van Gerwen.

Raymond van Barneveld picked up his second victory of the tournament with a 3-0 win over Wayne Mardle.

That puts him on two wins in the Dutch side of the tournament, with the top two players following Wednesday’s fifth set of matches progressing to the semi-finals.
