Newcastle Classic

Report on the Newcastle Classic held at Mayfield Ex Services Club on
24th and 25th February 2007

From the DFA

On Saturday we had 18 ladies teams and 24 men’s teams.

The ladies semis were played between Lavina and Bubs Sylvia and Corrine Hammond and Peta Whitlock. Lavina and Bubs won this semi with the game going to the 5th leg.

The other semi was played between Lauren Peters and Pam Burr and Colleen Nichols and Connie Spinks. Lauren and Pam won this game. Lavina and Bubs won the final.

The men’s semis were played between Simon Whitlock and Ian Brown and Jayson Wilson and Jason Murdoch. Simon and Ian won this game.

The other semi was between Mike Merz and Al Fuller and George Petrov and Raymond Lane. George and Raymond got there 4 – 3.

The final was then played between Simon and Ian and George and Ray.

The final was a convincing win for Simon and Ian

For the singles on Sunday we had a very good turn out for both the ladies and men and it was good to see a lot of state players from both the juniors and senior teams.

See, giving them an incentive of free entry they will turn up.

The ladies semis were played between Lavina and Lauren Peters. Lavina won this game.

The other semi was between Bubs Sylvia and Pam Burr. Pam won this in the final leg 4 – 3.

The final was then played between Lavina and Pam with Lavina winning this final 5 – 0.

The men’s semis were played between Simon Whitlock (left) and Ian Brown with Simon winning 5 – 2.

The other semi was between Colin Sharp And Brian Roach and this to went to the last leg and was finally won by Brian 5 – 4.

The final was between Simon and Brian.

Simon got out to a good start. Brian tried to come back but Simon who is on fire won this game 6 – 3.

The highest peg for the men was Jason Murdoch on 161 and the most 180’s was thrown by Simon Whitlock with 18.

For the ladies the highest peg was Michelle Peterson with a 130 and Pam Burr threw the most 180’s with 4.
