Super Barney Wins Welsh Players Championship

RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD won his fifth Pro Tour title of 2007 with a 3-0 win over Alex Roy in the final of the Welsh Players Championship.
The World Champion looked back to his imperious best at the Newport Centre, erasing memories of his first round loss in the Bullit World Darts Trophy earlier this month with a classy showing.
He dropped just two legs in the final against Roy, and was never taken to a deciding set in his seven games throughout the tournament, Van Barneveld opened with 3-0 wins over Wayne Atwood and Matt Clark, and also swept past John MaGowan by the same scoreline in the last eight.
Dennis Smith, Vincent van der Voort and Wayne Mardle all took a set from the Dutchman, but could get no closer as he claimed his ninth tournament win of 2007 and fifth on the PDC Pro Tour.

2007 Skybet World Grand Prix Draw
THE draw has been posted for the first round of the 2007 SkyBet World Grand Prix, which will take place from 8-14 October at the Citywest Hotel, Dublin. Seven-time champion Phil Taylor begins the defence of his title against Adrian Gray, who is one of four PDPA Qualifiers for the tournament.
World Champion Raymond van Barneveld opens up his challenge against fellow Dutchman Vincent van der Voort – a repeat of the final from June’s Blue Square UK Open in Bolton.

World Champ Van Barneveld Excited by South African Events

World darts champion Raymond van Barneveld will visit Johannesburg later this month as part of the biggest weekend in the sport’s history in South Africa. Van Barneveld will be joined by three other top professionals ? 13-time World Champion Phil Taylor, current Stan James World Matchplay champion James Wade and world number four Terry Jenkins – at the Emperors Palace Casino on 29 and 30 September. Over R400 000 will be on offer over the weekend in the two richest tournaments ever held on South African soil.

Lakeside Ticket Scalping Not Tolerated
Ticket Touters are already in full force, trying to make a profit on the much sought 2008 Lakeside world Professional Darts Championships tickets. But a warning is being issued to everyone trying to turn a fast buck on the high valued tickets: any ticket holder having tickets proven to be sold for a profit will not gain entry into the “home of world darts” next January. Let the buyer beware.

Ronny Baxter Takes Windy City Open
RONNIE BAXTER defeated James Wade 3-1 to taste victory in the Windy City Open Players Championship.
The victory was Baxter’s first since February 2006 on the PDC circuit as he overcame the in-form Stan James World Matchplay champion Wade.
Baxter had five-set wins over Darren Webster and Kevin Painter on his way to the final, and also saw off Peter Manley 3-1 in the quarter-finals and top American lady Stacy Bromberg earlier in the event.
