Dick van Dijk Admitted to Hospital for Heart Bypass Surgery


Reigning WDF World Cup Singles Champion Dick van Dijk was admitted to the Leyenburg Hospital in The Hague last Sunday suffering with severe chest pains. Unfortunately the diagnosis revealed that Dick has severe heart problems and will undergo “by-pass” surgery this coming Monday. I am sure we all hope that Dick will be back with us very soon and wish him a very speedy recovery. BDO increases 2008 Lakeside Winner’s Cheque to ?85,000

There will also be a record prize fund for the event totalling ?310,000.

A peak audience of around 5 million saw the climax of last year’s men’s final, as Martin Adams held off a remarkable comeback by Phill Nixon to win 7-6.

Phil Taylor Wins South African Master’s in Johannesburg

Phil Taylor defeated Raymond van Barneveld 8-6 to win the Emperors Palace South African Masters in Johannesburg. Taylor produced a marvellous display in an enthralling final against the Dutchman, with both players averaging over 100.

The 13-time World Champion had already left the Johannesburg crowd amazed with a stunning comeback in his semi-final win over Terry Jenkins, and again finished the stronger to take the title at Emperors Palace, winning four of the final five legs.

Chris Mason and Kevin McDine Latest Qualifiers for GSOD.


CHRIS MASON and Kevin McDine have won places in the 2007 PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts through the ITV Wildcard Qualifier.

McDine has enjoyed a superb first full year on the PDC circuit, and will now compete in the ?300,000 Grand Slam tournament in November live on ITV. The Newcastle-born youngster came from 2-0 to win 5-2 against Jason Clark in the final of his section of the draw at Wolverhampton’s Aldersley Leisure Village. He pulled level and then moved 4-2 up before taking out 160 for the match to earn himself a minimum ?4,000 prize money.
