Andy Smith Wins First Players Championship Title of the Year in Haarlem
ANDY SMITH won his first Players Championship for a year with a 6-4 defeat of Alan Tabern at the Van Der Valk Hotel in Haarlem on Sunday.
Smith had been victorious on the corresponding weekend last year, in Dinslaken, Germany, and repeated his success to take the £6,000 title in Holland.
Van der Voort Gets Double Dutch with Second Players Championship Win
VINCENT VAN DER VOORT won his second Players Championship of the year with a deciding leg defeat of Wayne Jones in Haarlem on Saturday.
The Dutchman saw off Jones to claim his maiden PDC title in March, and repeated his win to take the £6,000 title in Holland.

PHIL TAYLOR won his fourth Rileys Darts Zones UK Open title with an 11-5 defeat of Gary Anderson at the Reebok Stadium.
Taylor followed up Saturday’s world record average for a televised game of 118.66 against Kevin Painter, with victories over Adrian Lewis, Denis Ovens and Anderson on Sunday to take the £40,000 title.

TONY AYRES’ dream run in the Rileys Darts Zones UK Open continued as he won through to the semi-finals in Bolton, where he is joined by Gary Anderson, Denis Ovens and Phil Taylor.
Ayres, the world number 62, had won through to his first ever ranking quarter-final at the Reebok Stadium with four victories since Thursday night.

WAYNE MARDLE will take on reigning Rileys Darts Zones UK Open champion Phil Taylor at the Reebok Stadium on Friday night, as the world’s top players enter the tournament at the third round stage.
Mardle overcame Mick McGowan 6-3 as the £200,000 event kicked off on Thursday night, with the Essex man holding off the challenge of both the Irishman and his own nerves to progress to the last 64 in Bolton.

PHIL TAYLOR smashed apart the record books with TWO nine-dart finishes in claiming glory in the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts, defeating James Wade 10-8 to reclaim the £125,000 title.
Taylor became the first player in darting history to hit two nine-dart finishes in one game with a scintillating performance in the final of the tournament, as he won back the Premier League trophy.
