Mark Walsh Gets Narrow Win Over Alan Tabern to Slip Into Final 16 of World Champs

MARK WALSH won through to the last 16 of the World Darts Championship for the first time with a thrilling 4-3 tie-break win over Alan Tabern at Alexandra Palace on Tuesday.

Walsh, who has battled his way back into the world’s top ten since overcoming a bout of dartitis, saw Tabern miss six match darts during a dramatic contest.

The Hertforshire thrower then edged the seventh set 5-3 in a tie-break to secure his place in the third round on Thursday, where he will now face Terry Jenkins.

Walsh Strikes Back With Win Over Taylor

MARK WALSH gained revenge for Saturday’s defeat to Phil Taylor with a 6-4 victory in Sunday’s Players Championship final in Derby – while Wayne Mardle narrowly missed out on snatching an automatic place in the World Darts Championship by reaching the semi-finals.

Walsh had been defeated 6-3 in Saturday’s final by Taylor, but took home the £6,000 winner’s cheque a day later with a fine display at the Moorways Leisure Centre. Read more
