UK Open: Mawson Claims Victory over Barneveld, Moves to Final Against James Wade

In a semi final matchup that he won’t soon forget, Gary “Mawler” Mawson has triumphed over Raymond van Barneveld, and will now face James Wade in the final of the UK Open.

Earlier today Barneveld defeated Phil Taylor in the quarter finals for a third year in a row, but this match saw The Man miss double after double, with Mawson ready to pounce and capitolize on Barneveld’s mistakes.

“What a feeling” Mawson said. “This will stay with me forever!”

Mawson’s advance to the final round also grants him a place in the Grand Slam of Darts for the next two years, and his defeat of Barneveld also means that Phil Taylor will jump past Barneveld in the order of merit to reclaim the World Number 1 spot as well.
