WES NEWTON claimed his first ranking title with a narrow victory over Steve Beaton in Saturday’s Scottish Players Championship.
Newton has reached three PDC Pro Tour finals since the summer without victory, but ended that run in a final-leg thriller with Beaton at the Magnum Centre in Irvine.

STEVE MAISH won a place in the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts with a 5-3 victory over Arron Monk in the ITV Wildcard Qualifier on Friday night.
Maish, ranked 42 in the PDC Order of Merit, completes the 32-player field for the £400,000 Grand Slam of Darts event, which takes place from November 14-22 at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
