England and Wales Take World Cup Wins
The England Women’s team of LISA ASHTON and KAREN LAWMAN were victorious in the WDF World Cup, played in Charlotte, USA.
England’s World No.1 TONY O’SHEA won the WDF Men’s Singles title with a single dart average of 35.77, and JAMIE LEWIS of Wales won the Boy’s Singles title.
Overall, the England Men’s team were runners-up to The Netherlands, with the Wales Youth teams taking second place behind Champions Finland.
Phil Taylor Defeats James Wade to win South African Masters
PHIL TAYLOR defeated James Wade 6-4 to take victory in the Virgin Atlantic South African Masters – while Mervyn King hit a nine-darter in the tournament.
Taylor claimed victory at the Emperors Palace Casino for a third successive year with a fine display in Johannesburg.
Francis Wins South African Open
LES FRANCIS has won the Emperors Palace South African Open, defeating Devon Petersen 4-3 to win a place in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.
Gauteng’s Francis, 53, emerged the champion in the fourth staging of the South African Open, which featured 158 players at the Emperors Palace Casino in Johannesburg.
Osborne Beats Klaasen 6-3 for Group Six Victory
COLIN OSBORNE defeated nine-dart hero Jelle Klaasen 6-3 to win the final of Group Six in Championship League Darts.
Osborne had competed for the previous three days in the internet-televised tournament, but progressed to the Winners Group for a second successive year with the triumph.
Group Five, Mardle Wins 6-3 Over Osborne
WAYNE MARDLE took Group Five glory in Championship League Darts with a 6-3 final victory over Colin Osborne.
Mardle lost out in the third group of last year’s tournament, but ensured a spot in October’s Winners Group of the internet-televised competition with a flourish on Wednesday.
Walsh Wins Group Four With Painter Victory
MARK WALSH defeated Kevin Painter 6-4 to win Group Four of Championship League Darts on Tuesday.
The Hertfordshire ace booked his place in the tournament’s Winners Group for a second successive year following a consistent day at Crondon Park GC in Essex.
King Trumps van der Voort in Championship League Darts
MERVYN KING claimed victory in Group Three of Championship League Darts with a 6-2 defeat of Vincent van der Voort.
King bounced back from the disappointment of semi-final defeats on the opening two days of the tournament by booking his place in October’s Winners Group in a strong finish to Group Three.

Phil Taylor ruthlessly whitewashed Mark Walsh to win Group Two of Championship League Darts.

JAMES WADE defeated Phil Taylor 6-4 to win Group One of the Championship League Darts – despite the reigning champion hitting a nine-darter on the 2009 event’s opening day.
World number two Wade booked his place in the Winners Group of the internet-televised tournament in style at Crondon Park GC in Essex, claiming two wins in a highly profitable day.
Skybet World Grand Prix Will See Brendan Dolan taking on Phil Taylor
PHIL TAYLOR will begin the defence of his Skybet World Grand Prix title against Northern Ireland’s Brendan Dolan on Monday October 5, while Dublin duo Jacko Barry and Mick McGowan will clash in the tournament’s first round.
The £350,000 tournament – unique for having to start and finish a leg with a double – will be held in the Citywest Hotel IECC from October 5-11, offering £100,000 to the champion.
