Phill’s Premier League Darts Predictions: A Look Back
By Phill Catterick:
WITH the Whyte and Mackay Premier League now having come to an end, its time to look back and reflect on the success of the tournament, and what players made the biggest impact over the three month period.
James Wade is the new name on the league trophy after Phil Taylor’s dominance in the competition throughout the last four seasons came to an end in the semi finals, when Mervyn King overcame him 10-6 to prevent even a defence in the final.

Or rather, he’s flying to the Coop. The 28th annual Chuck and Stick’s Chicken Coop Open.
I haven’t heard anything from Dartoid since his announcement about taking on the Thailand Lady Darters, but I’m guessing that after that butt whoopin’ he felt that it was time to try his hand on some of the Ozark Mountain Darters, though I doubt that victory will be any easier!

JAMES WADE has become the 2009 Whyte and Mackay Premier League Darts champion after a fantastic 13-8 victory over Mervyn King at Wembley yesterday evening.
`The Machine` was in fine form throughout the night, firstly seeing off Raymond Van Barneveld 10-8 in the semi final, and then King to make him the first winner of the competition other than Phil Taylor, who made a surprise exit to Mervyn in the second semi.

JAMES WADE claimed the 2009 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts with a 13-8 victory over Mervyn King at the Wembley Arena on Monday night – as Phil Taylor’s reign in the event was sensationally ended.
Taylor had won all four previous Premier Leagues and was an odds-on favourite to take the £125,000 winner’s cheque this season, only for King to produce a 10-6 upset victory in the semi-finals.

Although doubtful, we could end up with a Barneveld v King final as both are equally capable of defeating their respective opponents, but this is possibly the match that would provide the upset which would rob viewers of the final everyone’s after.

The young Dutch darter feels that his debut into this year’s Whyte & Mackay Premier Darts League has improved his dart game, despite some inconsistencies he suffered during the league’s progress.
“Even though I missed a lot of doubles in the Premier League I’ve been hitting them better in the other tournaments and I think I’m a better player now.”
“I enjoyed it very much. It’s hard with all the travelling but it has been a great experience and hopefully I’ll be back next year,” Klaasen remarked.
