GSOD Day Six Round Up

Darts legends Phil Taylor and John Part will meet in the quarter-finals of the PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts on Friday.
The duo booked their places in the last eight of the ?300,000 tournament at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall with second round victories over Gary Mawson and Colin Lloyd on Thursday.
They have met in five major finals down the years, but will clash in a best-of-19 leg contest on Friday night for a place in the semis.

Top seeds Raymond van Barneveld and James Wade were knocked out of the PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts in a thrilling start to round two on Wednesday night.
The first four last 16 games at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall produced four sensational contests, with underdogs Kevin McDine and Terry Jenkins knocking out two of darts’ biggest names.

It seems clear from his article that Patrick Hill of The News and Star online doesn’t really care for the BDO and doesn’t mind voicing his opinion on the matter. From the News and Star online article:
“Master promoter Barry Hearn has injected glitz, glamour and an air of boxing-like cool to the PDC circuit ? but the amateur BDO equivalent is still as unfashionable and embarrassing as ever. One browse of Saturday?s event on the BBC was rammed full of balding obesity, Wayne and Waynettas galore and enough gold-plated jewellery to make Mr T jealous.”

GSOD: Day Three Roundup, Australian Pat Orreal Moves On

Australia’s Pat Orreal will join Raymond van Barneveld and James Wade in the last 16 of the PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts on Wednesday.
The Queenslander was a late replacement for Australian Open champion Glenn Power for the tournament a week ago, but has taken his chance with both hands to qualify through the group stage at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
He found himself 4-0 down in his winner-takes-all contest with Phill Nixon, the runner-up in this year’s BDO World Championship Final.
Orreal managed to claw his way back into the game, and then punished eight missed darts for the match from Nixon to take the deciding leg.
