The 2008 Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship, to be held at Alexandra Palace from 17 December-1 January.
The tournament begins with four first round matches in the evening of Monday 17 December, with last year’s quarter-finalist Alan Tabern taking on Denmark’s Per Laursen in the opening game on the new Alexandra Palace stage.

Phil Taylor Powers Over Andy Hamilton to Win GSOD

Phil Taylor won the inaugural PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts with an 18-11 victory over Andy Hamilton at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
Taylor showed some of his finest form in a brilliant display in the final, crucially taking nine successive legs in the middle of the game to establish a 14-5 lead.
Hamilton, in his first major final, battled superbly against his Stoke rival and hit back to 16-9 at one stage before Taylor sealed the victory.

PHIL TAYLOR and Andy Hamilton will contest the final of the PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts on Sunday following two thrilling semi-finals at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
Taylor, the number two seed, edged out WDF number one Gary Anderson 13-11 to remain on course for another major title in his incredible career.
Anderson supported his status as number three seed with a marvellous performance against the 13-time World Champion, taking out three ton-plus finishes and landing nine 180s

The duo, seeded second and third for the tournament, progressed past John Part and Kevin Painter respectively to set up a mouth-watering last four encounter at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
Taylor held off a John Part fightback to prevail 10-7 against the Canadian double World Champion, averaging almost 100 in a strong display.

ITV Wildcard qualifier Kevin McDine continued his dream run at the PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts with a stunning 10-3 defeat of Jelle Klaasen.
The 22-year-old knocked out number four seed James Wade on Wednesday, and booked his place in the semi-finals with another assured display.
He continued to show no nerves on the big stage to storm past the former World Champion with ease.
He was 4-0 up before Klaasen got off the mark, and landed eight maximums to average 99 for the match.

Lakeside Country Club to Continue as World Pro Title Sponsor

LAKESIDE COUNTRY CLUB has announced that it is extending its title sponsorship of the Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships to 2010.
This follows the recent announcement by Bob Potter, OBE, proprietor of Lakeside, that prize money for the 2008 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships is being increased to a record-breaking available prize fund of ?310,000.
