Hello darts guys’n'gals that read TheOche.com. First of all, let me apologize for the long delay in posting anything here. Secondly, let me apologize in advance for the post I’m about to make…

As I’m sure you have noticed, there hasn’t been a new darts news post here on The Oche for quite some time now, not since August 03, 2011 to be exact. During this time, I have gone through several things in the real world, and during it all, I’ve been doing some soul searching regarding this website.

Darts in my area is pretty much non-existent, and this coupled with other “real world” pursuits have forced me to put The Oche on the back burner during this time. I thought that my absence from the site would eat at me…nag away until I would force myself to dig up some kind of darts news and post it here for you. Quite to the contrary…not having the worry of maintaining this site has been somewhat liberating. Read more

Just to update my previous post, I wanted to let everyone know that DartsRadio.com now has a new home. Keep the site bookmarked and check on it in the future to see what the new owner has in store for it. After speaking with him, I have a renewed excitement for this domain name and feel that he has the vision and energy to make it into a great resource for the sport of darts.

It is DartsRadio.com, and I have owned it for several years, but have not developed any site for it. I felt this would be a fantastic website for darts related podcasting, but as I said, never made any progress in this direction.

This domain is expiring on July 3rd 2011, and I will not be renewing it. Unless I transfer it to someone myself before that time, it will most likely be grabbed by one of the advertising/parking companies that seem to suck up every available domain name, and I would hate for that to happen.

If you would like to make an offer on this domain name, just send me an email to webmaster@theoche.com. I’m not looking to get rich so no offer is too low, but what I am looking to do is to see that someone interested in darts gets this domain name, and that hopefully whoever gets it will end up doing something useful to the sport with the domain name. I’m not renewing this domain, so it will be gone, so if you want to get it, send me your offer.

I will be taking offers through midnight CST July 2nd, and I will update this post with the current highest bid. To get the domain name, you must be a paypal user to send the funds, and you must have a (free) GoDaddy.com account so that I can transfer it into your name.

Just to throw this out as well…and I’m still undecided on it…but there is a very good chance that TheOche.com domain name may be up for grabs as well, but that’s the subject for another post, and another day.

Well…no excuses, just the facts. There has been a LOT going on in my life, job, and family lately, and I just haven’t been able to find the time, nor to be honest, the motivation, to keep up with all of the darts events happening in the sport.

Even though I’ve always tried to make this website a useful and informative one to the sport of darts, it has in the grand scheme of things been more of a hobby than anything else, and unfortunately I haven’t had a lot of time lately for any hobbies or other fun or distracting things.

I’m going to try to get things back up and running though, and thanks to everyone that has been patiently waiting!

Well, we already had a few of them, namely the Twitter updates for our darts news postings, and our RSS feed. Several of you, well eleven in total, voted for these two items, and we already had them in place at the time of the poll. You may follow our Twitter updates by signing up for twitter and then following us (http://twitter.com/theoche). Each and every news post here on the main page generates a twitter “tweet” so you’ll automatically know when we have posted new news items. We currently have close to 400 followers on Twitter, and hope to count you among them!

Well, as you have probably noticed, things went a bit south the past few days here at TheOche.com. Our web hosting company moved us to a new server…and things just didn’t ever work. After several days of back and forth with tech support, we determined that a complete hosting company move was in order.

So, here we are now with our new web host, and things are getting back to normal. We’re still doing some behind the scenes work though, moving various files and checking settings (all kinds of boring geek stuff), so you may notice things here and there that just aren’t quite right, but we’re getting there!

If you notice something that’s broken, please drop us a line to webmaster@theoche.com and we’ll add your report to our growing list of stuff to do this beautiful weekend! Whoot!

We’ll also get caught up on all of our darts news postings once we get the site back in order.
