Mardle Down For the Count as Hankey Wins 5-4 in Grand Slam

Ted Hankey bounced back to winning ways in the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts on Monday night, while James Wade turned up the heat at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall with a sensational display.
Hankey, the current BDO World Champion, was jeered during a 5-3 loss to Scott Waites in Sunday’s opening fixture, but silenced any critics by taking victory.

Hankey, the current BDO World Champion and number two seed in the Grand Slam, slumped to a disappointing 5-3 loss to Waites in Wolverhampton in his first group game.
He will now face a must-win clash with Wayne Mardle in Monday’s second phase of group games if he is to keep alive his hopes of progressing to the last 16.

The BDO International Open at Pontin’s, Brean Sands was a huge success – with over 300 more people on the popular Somerset park than in the previous year and a feast of great darts – men, women and youth – over three days.
The weather was warm and sunny for the second event in the Fire Kills BDO International Grand Prix Series, the highlight of which was a repeat of the 2009 Lakeside World Professional final between Tony O’Shea and Ted Hankey.

Tony O’Shea walked away with victory in a 4-0 decisive final matchup with Ted Hankey, while Trina Gulliver pulled out a win over Irina Armstong by 3-2.
Hankey, Mardle, Baxter and Wade Take on Fans and Each Other
On May 1 the Redcar Bowl is expected to have around 500 packed in fans trying to get a shot at darts legends Ted Hankey, Wayne Mardle, Ronnie Baxter or James Wade.
The top darters will take on fans before facing each other in a round robin tournament.

To celebrate his second BDO World Championship, Ted Hankey had his long time tattooist Paul Campion of Psycho Tattoos in Kinmel Bay ink the Bride of Dracula as his latest piece of body art.
Hankey also purchased a £2,000 funeral hearse which he plans to customize, including purchasing a coffin to accessorise the newfound gruesome ride.
In tongue in cheek fashion, Hankey jokes he’ll put Phil Taylor in the back of the hearse when he’s finished with a match with the PDC Champion, and jokes that Taylor is “dead scared” of facing him.

After his hard fought Lakeside victory, newly crowned second time BDO World Champion Ted “The Count” Hankey says he has no plans to join the BDO rival, the PDC.
