Taylor Dumps Manley in Players Championship

PHIL TAYLOR began the defence of his totesport.com Players Championship title with victory over Peter Manley as the £250,000 event began on Thursday night.
Taylor returned to the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, Essex – the scene of 11 of his 15 World Championship triumphs – to see off old adversary Manley 6-2.

PHIL TAYLOR will face Peter Manley in the first round of the totesport.com Players Championship on Thursday January 28.
World number one Taylor, the reigning champion in the £250,000 event, will take on his long-time rival at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet in a repeat of three World Championship finals the pair contested at the famous venue.
Their game will be played amongst eight first round clashes on the opening night of the ITV4-televised totesport.com Players Championship on Thursday January 28.

FORMER champion Peter Manley was amongst the final six qualifiers for the PartyPoker.net Las Vegas Desert
Classic on Monday.
Manley, the 2003 winner, had to enter the qualifiers at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas after dropping
outside the world’s top 16 recently.
However, he bounced back from the disappointment of a defeat to Shane O’Connor on Sunday by winning through 24 hours later.
