PDC, Unicorn, and Stockport College Announce Darts Academy Launch

THE Professional Darts Corporation and Unicorn Darts have teamed up with Stockport College to launch the first professional Darts Academy.

The unique Darts Academy will be a part of Stockport College’s highly successful Academy of Sport, and based at the Stockport College Town Centre Campus.

Hearn Says Croft “Incapable of Taking Darts Forward” as Croft Refuses PDC Buyout Offer

(PDC Media Release) Barry Hearn has questioned the authority with which Olly Croft has turned down the PDC’s £1m offer to buy the British Darts Organisation and inject an additional £1m into the grass roots of the game.

The Professional Darts Corporation’s Chairman made the offer in an open letter to the BDO’s shareholders – its 66 member counties – and directors on Tuesday, but quotes from Croft, whose position within the BDO is described on its official website as ‘Founder’, reject the offer out of hand. Open Letter from PDC to BDO: 1 Million Pound Offer to buy out BDO

Barneveld Hits a Nine Darter, But Phil Taylor Picks up the Trophy at the UK Open West Midlands Regional

PHIL TAYLOR picked up his seventh PDC Pro Tour win of 2009 with victory over Wayne Jones in the final of the Blue Square UK Open West Midlands Regional Final.

Taylor had lost in the final of Saturday’s Players Championship to Mark Walsh – his first defeat on the PDC Pro Tour this year – but bounced back in style to claim the £6,000 title.

Robert Thornton Takes Second Weekend Victory at Scottish Regional

 

Robert Thornton claimed back-to-back PDC Pro Tour titles with a 6-2 victory over Dennis Priestley in the Blue Square UK Open Scottish Regional Final on Sunday.

Ayrshire ace Thornton was victorious in Saturday’s Scottish Players Championship before taking another £6,000 title the following day.

Phil Taylor ended Mervyn King’s winning start to the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts after snatching a draw in their clash at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on Thursday night.

King had won his opening four games in the tournament, but was denied a fifth straight win when the defending champion earned a draw in a tense battle.
