COLIN OSBORNE won his third tournament of 2009 with a 6-4 defeat of Michael van Gerwen in the final of Sunday’s Players Championship at the Magnum Centre in Irvine.

Osborne added to his wins in a Players Championship in Barnsley and last month’s Championship League Darts with the £6,000 title in Scotland.

Michael van Gerwen’s 6-4 victory over Vincent van der Voort gave Mighty Might his first PDC title in the last two years.

His last title win occured in the 2007 Open Holland, and this victory gave him a sweet early birthday present, as the young van Gerwen will turn 20 shortly.

Phil Taylor completed a third PDC Pro Tour ‘double’ of 2009 with victory in the Blue Square UK Open South-East Regional Final.

Taylor, who has already won both weekend events in Gibraltar and Germany this year, followed up Saturday’s Players Championship victory with another imperious display.
