Martin Adams has clinched his second BDO World Darts Championship title after a thrilling 7-5 win over Dave Chisnall at the Lakeside.

`Wolfie` was pushed all the way by the underdog and he really had to dig deep and use his vast experience to overcome the man who beat Ted Hankey and Tony O’Shea to reach his first World Final.

Reflections on the Winmau World Masters

FOR the spectator it was perhaps slightly disappointing that the first semi final wasn’t the game that concluded the championships in Bridlington, with Martin Adams and Tony O’Shea locking horns in a battle of the titans.

It seemed likely that the victor of that match would go onto win the competition, and that proved to be the case. However, the final was a classic which will live long in the memory and definitely provided a good advertisement for the BDO.

Loyal Wolfie takes a swipe at rival chairman Hearn and has ruled himself out of a possible clash with rival world champion Ray van Barneveld. The Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton in November is set to bring together the top players from rival organisations PDC and BDO that formed following a bitter split 15 years ago.

But BDO champion Adams has snubbed the offer and taken a swipe at PDC chairman Hearn.

Adams will instead target the BDO Winmau World Masters that starts the day before the Grand Slam of Darts on November 16.
