Australian number one Paul Nicholson celebrated a new look with a 6-4 win over Scottish star Gary Anderson in the biggest game of the opening night.
Nicholson sported a waistcoat and tie for the contest, and came from behind before sealing victory with a bullseye finish for a 132 checkout against Anderson.
“It’s a massive confidence boost for me,” said Nicholson. “This is possibly the biggest win of my career and I can go on from this.”

Gary Anderson may not be one of the more ‘recognised’ names on the PDC circuit, but since his switch from the BDO in February he’s certainly made his mark, and definitely living up to his nickname- `The Flying Scotsman`.
The Scot lit up the Whyte and Mackay Premier League during the final evening in Cardiff just a few weeks ago, overcoming three times World Champion John Part 7-4, averaging well over 105.
