Anastasia Dobromyslova vs Eric Bristow, Beauty and the Beast Grudge Match!

Legend of Darts Eric Bristow wasn’t too thrilled with the inclusion of sultry Russian Darter Anastasia Dobromyslova’s in the PDC World Championship, and as usual the Crafty Cockney wasn’t too shy about voicing his opinion of the matter

The Daily Mail Online quotes Bristow:

“She shouldn’t be in it,” insists Bristow. “I don’t know what that’s all about. A lot of professional darts players are not very happy about it.

“They chase all around the world to qualify for the championship. If a handful of women joined the PDC next year, played on the circuit, and earned their right to play in the biggest tournament, there would not be a mosn from anyone because they would have proved worthy of their places.

“But you can’t just decide ‘we will have one in it’. I feel sorry for Trina Gulliver. She won the world champs seven years on the trot. Last year she loses to this Anastasia. It is wrong, especially if it is down to how she looks. Anyway, Trina’s not a bad-looking chick.

Given Bristow’s comments, it is ironic that it was he himself that inspired Anastasia to play darts in the first place. She grew up between St. Petersburg and Moscow in the town of Tver, and it was a DVD of Bristow that spurned her interest in the sport.

After Bristow’s comments, Anastasia accused him of sexism, and has now issued a challange to him to compete against her in a dart’s Battle of the Sexes.

“He said I should not be playing against men.

“So why don’t we both put £5,000 each into a prize pot and play each other to see if he’s right.

“He thinks women should be chained to the kitchen sink and should only be at the darts to escort the players to stage and get their drinks for them.”

Not one to be outsmarted on or off of the oche, Dobromyslova has enlisted a Power in the sport, Phil The Power himself, to help her prepare for her epic showdown.

Phil remarked: “I think [the dart match] is a great idea. Anastasia has already called me to ask if she can prectise for the match with me.

I told her she can come up whenever she likes. I’ll give her all the help and coaching she wants.”

No matter what the outcome of the match, this is one that will attract everyone’s attention as the darts Beauty vs Beast saga unfolds!
