Winmau World Masters on BBC
The BBC will air the Winmau World Masters dart tournament on BBC One on Saturday October 14th at 1:40PM, and BBC Two on Sunday October 15th at 2:50PM. According to the BBC News Website, the “Cream” of the WDF dart field will be competing for the title this year.
The BBC site goes on to say that “some of the greatest names in the sport have won this tournament in the past, Eric Bristow, Phil Taylor and last year’s winner Raymond Van Barneveld” to name a few. What remained unsaid was that ALL of the mentioned dart players have left the BDO to join the PDC, the BDO/WDF’s rival darting organization.
They did mention that a “new champion will be crowned this time” due to Barneveld’s switching to a “rival organisation,” though there was no mention of the PDC specifically.
England’s Martin Adams will be amongst the favorites in the men’s dart event, while world number one Trina Gulliver will probably be retaining her women’s title.
