James Wade: From Tools to Tungsten

James Wade, the ex-mechanic from Aldershot, has reached the final round in 10 of the last 13 darts tournaments on the PDC tour, and heads into the Grand Slam of Darts as one of the top players to beat.

From The Sun:

JAMES WADE used to fix cars but now lives life in the fast lane.

The ex-mechanic heads into next week?s inaugural Grand Slam as the in-form player on the darts circuit.

Wade, 24, has reached the final in 10 of the last 13 tournaments on the PDC tour after swapping spanners for tungsten steel at the oche.

He admitted: ?My lifestyle has completely changed. I can now afford things I used to only dream about.

?The biggest treat is my new BMW M3, which I bought a few weeks ago. It?s not flashy like a footballer?s Ferrari but to me it?s fantastic.?

Wade, from Aldershot, has pocketed ?150,000 in prize money this year alone and from being one of the game?s hot young prospects is now ranked world No 3.

The Grand Slam pits him against the best in the field with Phil ?The Power? Taylor, world champion Ray Barneveld and stars from the PDC and rival BDO shooting it out for a ?75,000 top prize.
