Major darts organisations renew deals with dart board manufacturers
Unicorn, makers of the Unicorn Eclipse Pro line of dartboards, has again been selected as the official dart board supplier for the PDC.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Unicorn Products Ltd,” said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
“They have worked consistently hard to continue to improve their dartboards in recent years and stay at the forefront of the market.
“Every dart thrown in PDC tournaments will be on a Unicorn Eclipse Pro dartboard – great recognition for a superb product.”
Not to be outdone, the PDC’s competing organisation, the BDO, inked a deal with Winmau, maker of the Blade III dartboard. ?The BDO is proud of its wonderful relationship with Wimau for more than thirty years?, says Olly Croft, ?and this new agreement cements the bond between us. We can now plan ahead and provide more positives for our players and the sport of darts?.
Sounds like both camps are slinging more than darts, and as usual it will be the players that end up catching the schrapnel. Dart players want to throw darts, end of story. While both dartboard makers spin some fine sisal, the major organisations are once again using pomp and circumstance to parade about with grand chest thumping. Lets see if we can’t strike a deal with the people that make the dart events what they are guys. The boards are great, but no one comes to see the dartboard; they come to see the players. Let the players play where they will and enter in whatever competition they would like.
