Viking raid on World Masters failed

Andy “The Viking” Fordham made an unfortunate and early exit from the Winmau World Masters. Fordham took the opening set against Ireland’s Benny Grace, but the next three sets and the match victory went to Grace.

Grace lived up to his surname with a gracious comment about the defeated Fordham: “I respect Andy as a world champion. He’s a great player but the pressure was on him.”

Other notable exits from the World Masters included Bobby George with a 3-0 loss to Jim Widmayer of the United States, and two time World Championship runner-up Mervyn King, with a 3-2 loss to Albertino Essers.
