Van der Voort ends Robson\’s WDT dream

(From InfoDarts.nl)

Gary Robson, who won the Bullit World Darts Trophy in 2005, won’t play in the 2007 main tournament. The professional darts player from England was beaten by Vincent van der Voort in the second and final preliminary round. Mervyn King did better and reached the main event, just like Wayne Atwood, Michael van Gerwen, Denis Ovens, Jelle Klaasen, Kevin Painter, Shaun Greatbatch and of course Van der Voort.

Robson had no chance at all in his match against Dutch PDC star Van der Voort. The Dutchman continued his brilliant form and will play PDC superstar Phil Taylor on monday evening.

Ronnie Baxter will have something to think about on his way home. The Rocket missed eight match darts and saw how Denis Ovens finished better: 2-3. Martin Atkins also suffered a painful defeat. He grabbed a 2-0 lead in his match against Shaun Greatbatch, but gave it all away.

There was relief for the Dutch fans, as Klaasen, Van Gerwen and Van der Voort reached the main event. Mario Robbe was close, but he lost in the second and final qualifying round.
